About the Workshop
Vicki Corwin, a much-loved instructor, will be sharing two days of instruction and play with pointed pens in a workshop called “Simply Scripts and Uncorked Uncial with Pointed Pens.” You will have a chance to try (and buy, if you wish), many nibs, holders, inks, and papers. The first day will focus on the ease of writing casual script alphabets enhanced with the thicks and thins only a pointed pen nib can create. Day Two will focus on the versatility of the pointed pen Uncial alphabet.
Coming to us from Royal Oak, Vicki has been a professional calligrapher for over 25 years. Classically trained in historic as well modern alphabet styles, Vicki offers instruction in multiple calligraphic topics, from beginning to advanced letter forms and techniques. In 2008, completed a year-long Master Class in Engrossing with Michael Sull. She has served on the board of Michigan Association of Calligraphers (MAC) for many years and has served as their president multiple terms. As a professional calligrapher, Vicki has had a hand in life’s most important moments for many people over these years. She has created and lettered hundreds of diplomas for many institutions including Sacred Hear Seminary and Cranbrook Institute, thousands of wedding invitations, place cards at million-dollar parties, and once, even a love letter. Vicki likes to say she’s written on everything you can think of – at least once!
Cost for this two-day workshop will be $120. This fee includes a chance to experiment with many nibs, inks, and papers, without buying a single one, allowing you to discover what suits you best. It also includes catered lunches both days, bound handouts, and a chance to spend time with fellow Pen Dragons.
