Julie Kechele will demonstrate a simple method of using matte medium to transfer a photocopy onto watercolor paper. She will then show how she uses ink and watercolor to add lettering and expand the image beyond the transferred photo.

Earlier this year the Kalamazoo Stamp Club challenged Pen Dragons to do the calligraphy and design for a special cancellation for the Nazareth Post Office which annually receives requests to add this special touch to Christmas mail.

This year’s meetings will feature a 20- to 30-minute demonstration by a Pen Dragons member, or possibly a guest speaker. These will not be hands-on but will expose you to techniques, tools, media, and ideas that others are working with.

The Treewhispers ‘forest’ has now been delivered to Ohio and will be installed in January 2020 at the Dawes Arboretum in Newark, OH, east of Columbus. The rounds done in our community – over 300 of them!! – will be sent to Pamela Paulsrud to be assembled into trees for the Ohio or another future exhibition.
