Explore the art of beautiful writing in this introduction to Italic calligraphy. This is a great class for beginners, but all levels are welcome. We will look at the terms, tools, and materials used to create this elegant and popular style, and learn the basics of both lower and upper case letterforms. We will explore practical applications such as creating holiday or greeting cards, addressing envelopes, making bookmarks or place cards, and lettering poems or quotations. Students will create a small final project to showcase their work. Materials may be purchased from the instructor at the first class.
